Calling all Parent Teacher Organiations

1.       Start Now!   The old saying goes, “Fail to Plan, Plan to Fail.”  The earlier you start, the more money you can raise and the more support you will gain from volunteer helpers!  Plan your fundraisers a semester and/or season ahead of time.  Start your fall fundraiser in the summer (NOW) by calling annie & de.

2.     Ask Volunteers to Help.  You are helping your organization earn needed funds, but you shouldn’t do all the work on your own.  Often people are willing to help, you just need to ask them directly.  This may mean a personal email, text or phone call- not just a general flier or email.  You will also have greater success if you ask help for a specific task/job you need help with.  For example, “Can you help with set-up from 8-10 on Saturday?” Or “Can you help solicit donations for 5 local businesses?”

3.     Learn to Delegate and Follow-up.  I know, you want it to be perfect and not everyone has the same standards as you.  However, you can get things done, the way you want them, with the help of others.   When assigning tasks, be specific and detailed (i.e. who, what, what, when and where).  Follow-up with emails that outline the tasks and responsibilities discussed.  Check-in for status updates regularly.

4.     Pick the Right Fundraiser that will make you the most money.  Many national organizations overcharge for products and only provide a minimal “royalty” (money back) to the school.  annie & de can help you offer reasonably priced products, and help you earn great profits.

5.     Think Outside of the Box.  Get creative and offer something new.  If you offer the same products every year to the same parents, chances are they might not need it again this year or they are just tired of it.  T-shirts and spirit wear are great- we love them too!  Let annie & de help you come up with new and fun idea.

6.     Communicate.  Make sure to keep decision makers, volunteers and employees or students informed before (hey this is going to happen and this why we are having the fundraiser) during (please don’t forget to get your orders in) and after (thank you to groups and individuals for all their efforts, we raised $X amount and the money will go towards ABC)

7.     Ask for Help or Advice. Fundraising can be easy and fun with the right partners.  annie & de started their company based on their years of volunteering for schools, communities, teams, and churches, etc.  We now also have the industry knowledge and tools to help make your job easier and your fundraiser a success.  For a free brainstorming session, call us a 410- 216-1314 or email us at denise@annieandde.com.
